Free Tree Spirit

The free tree spirits have been around for centuries. However, because of climate change, forest fires and deforestation, the free tree spirits are disappearing along with the trees. A free tree spirit or liberum lignum is a spirit that is born when a tree is planted. They manifest physically as (description here) and their purpose in life is to help the trees grow and protect. They’ve been around as long as the trees themselves and there are just as many, if not more of them than there are of trees. They aren’t predators despite their predatory looks; it’s just to scare and to fight off humans. They’re about eight feet tall and they forage wild berries. They also replenish and grow from rain water, similar to how trees do. If there are not any trees in the area, the tree spirit can not survive and that’s why they fight so hard. My design represents a fully grown free tree spirit/protector but they don’t really have a baby or infant form.
