Jip, Chaperone of Spirits
Spiritus radiata
Spirit
Jips are small creatures, similar in size to that of a house cat but resembling characteristics of a fox. Jips are commonly known to have antlers and some form of bone motif, though reports have shown that they can have a wide range of animal traits (i.e. antenna, wings, extra limbs, etc.). With white fur and red accents, their ghostly appearance makes them difficult to spot to the untrained eye. The red accents adorning Jips are likely related to the spider-lilies that grow where they roam. It's speculated that they grow these flowers to help lead lost souls to the afterlife. These creatures favor forests and natural areas, though they can be spotted in more city-like areas. Jips are elusive and skittish, yet playful creatures; they are more likely to run away than to attack. They are nearly silent on their feet but communicate through a series of trills and clicks. From what's been observed, Jips don't seem to need to eat but will indulge on berries and fruits (perhaps to blend in?). It is unclear how many Jips exist at once, but it is theorized that these creatures have been around for thousands of years. They are quite difficult to study as they seem to have some form of teleportation or obscuring ability, allowing them to effectively disappear into thin air.
