Siren of Slumber

Dormitus sirena

Spirit

While its origin is unknown, it is believed to have emerged from the foggy swamps of current-day Ireland. The Slumber Siren has been around as long as humankind has, if not longer, and is one of the most common creatures ever known to walk the Earth. It is most commonly noted as a siren with the body of a sloth. The creature moves extremely slowly as it casts spells on all living creatures, making them fall into a trance of fatigue, and the host feels the desire to lie down and close its eyes, while the spirit gives the host visions of various things. The creature usually comes out towards the end of the day as the sun sets, but often crosses into the human world to put hardworking or overly productive individuals into a trance. While there are many remedies to keep the spirit away, the most effective remedy is the use of a magical bean that is grown in South America and regions of Africa that is roasted, ground, and steeped into a cup of hot water to create a potion to ward off the spirit. While this is the most effective remedy, it only lasts for a short amount of time before the spirit forces its spell into the mind of the host once again. This creature has sparked much controversy throughout history because no one can decide if its role for humankind is positive or negative, but its causation is very prevalent. While many appreciate its role in allowing the host to rest and reset their thoughts after the trance has been induced, many are angry towards the spirit for disrupting their productivity and tasks, especially those in Western societies. It is important to note that contact with this spirit is necessary for survival, and the inability to be contacted by him could result in death. While many forms of this creature come in different sizes and shapes, and the ability to place its host in a good or bad trance, all feed on the energy dispensed by living things, and are generally conceived in adult form. This creature is safe to encounter. However, too many or too few encounters with it may be dangerous.
